About This Safari

Ranthambore National Park is India's most famous tiger reserve — and one of the best places in the world to see Bengal tigers in their natural habitat. Set in the dramatic landscape of eastern Rajasthan, where the Aravalli and Vindhya hills collide, Ranthambore offers a wildlife experience unlike any other on earth.

The park covers 1,334 square kilometres of dry deciduous forest, open grasslands, lakes and rocky outcrops dominated by the imposing 10th-century Ranthambore Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage Site that shares its territory with tigers, leopards and hundreds of other species. The sight of a Bengal tiger resting in the shadows beneath an ancient fort wall is one of the most extraordinary wildlife images imaginable, and one that Ranthambore regularly provides to lucky visitors.

This five-day safari package includes four game drives — two early morning and two late afternoon — in open-sided, government-licensed jeeps. Your guide is an experienced naturalist who knows Ranthambore's individual tigers by name and territory, dramatically increasing your chances of a sighting. All safari permits are included in the package price.

Beyond tigers, Ranthambore is home to an extraordinary array of wildlife: Indian leopard, striped hyena, jungle cat, sambar and chital deer, nilgai antelope, mugger crocodile, Indian python, sloth bear, and over 500 species of birds including the rare Indian skimmer, painted stork and greater spotted eagle. Even on drives without a tiger sighting, the wildlife watching is spectacular.

Accommodation is in a well-appointed safari lodge on the edge of the park, combining comfort with authentic jungle atmosphere. Full board meals are included — hearty, freshly prepared food to fuel your safari days. The lodge is positioned perfectly for early morning departures into the park as it opens at dawn.

Wear neutral, earth-tone clothing (khaki, olive, brown). Avoid white, bright colours and strong perfumes which disturb wildlife. Long sleeves and trousers protect against insects. Bring a light jacket for early morning drives.

Follow your naturalist's instructions. Stay quiet and still. The front of the jeep offers the best views. Morning safaris have higher tiger activity. Zones 3–5 around Padam and Malik lakes are the most productive areas.

Bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a telephoto lens (minimum 300mm focal length). Always bring extra memory cards and batteries. Shooting in RAW format gives maximum flexibility in post-processing.

Never stand or shout in the jeep. Do not feed any animals. Maintain respectful distances from all wildlife. Follow all park rules and your guide's instructions at all times. Littering in the park is strictly prohibited.
